BFA admissions |
Preparation and Assessment Students interested in earning a MFA in art or design should either
have a related undergraduate BA or BFA or significant experience in the
area in which they are seeking the MFA. Whether a student decides to
go back to school or continue on, earning a MFA is a substantial investment
of time and money. Careful consideration of many factors should go into
making this significant decision. We can help students identify and evaluate
the issues most important to them as they decide whether or not to pursue
a MFA degree. Identification: Finding a “Good Fit” Which MFA program is the right choice? In any academic area there are always colleges and universities which stand out as having exceptionally fine programs. The same is true for MFA programs. Certain colleges have earned reputations of excellence in select areas. Some students may want to apply to only the most highly regarded MFA programs. Other students may want to find a strong program located in a particular geographic area. Needs and preferences vary among students. By carefully considering a particular students’ needs and best interests, we can identify those MFA programs which appear to a be good fit. Once identified, we will inquire further to learn more about the unique
aspects of each MFA program under consideration. We encourage students
to visit the schools and to meet with faculty and current MFA students. Application and Portfolio Development After a student has decided to which MFA programs to apply, we can work with them to develop a strong admissions portfolio. We can also assist them with other aspects of the application process as needed. . |
