Patricia Boman earned a BFA in Graphic Design
from the Rhode Island
School of Design and a MFA in Graphic Design from Yale University.
She also has a BA in English from Hamline University where she graduated
summa cum laude with distinction (honors) in English.
Patricia worked as a graphic designer for over sixteen years before
she began teaching at the college level. Considered a demanding instructor,
Patricia pushed her students to refine their creative and critical thinking
skills
while working to develop innovative visual communication solutions.
She emphasized appropriate and imaginative communication, while eschewing attempts
to imitate popular design styles or approaches
which lacked an underlying concept.
As a result of their preparation, the majority of her students went
on to land
design jobs soon after graduation—with many of them finding outstanding
positions. Students commented that Patricia was able to pull their best
work out of them. Design firms that reviewed the students portfolios frequently
commented on their design excellence and the fact that the students’
portfolios were each highly creative and unique.
When Patricia decided to leave college teaching, she founded art + design
educational advisors, LLC, seeking a new way to use her teaching skills
to help a wider range of students. The firm reflect’s Patricia‘s
dedication to
art and design excellence and her commitment to her students’ success.
