About our work
I founded Art & Design Educational Advisors, LLC (ADEA) to provide
independent, objective college advising and career development
services specifically for artists and designers.
New technologies and an evolving global community are creating
educational and career opportunities for artists and designers that would have been hard to imagine even a few years ago.
As the world faces a growing number of complex challenges, highly
creative and visionary thinking—which comes naturally to many visually
creative people—will be needed in new and unexpected ways by a
diverse range of companies and organizations seeking to forge new
approaches and solutions.
In addition, the ways in which artists and designers might use their
talents as social entrepreneurs or in other capacities through non-profit
organizations to make a meaningful difference in the world have never
been as varied or as viable.
The coming years should bring more opportunities than ever before for
those who are talented, skilled, flexible and prepared. However,
professional success for artists and designers—or anyone else for that matter—is rarely quick, easy or guaranteed. An objective, insightful,
compassionate advisor can be very helpful in making the road smoother.
ADEA helps students identify strong college programs
that will meet their interests, needs and goals.
Talent, intelligence and drive are essential. A solid art and design
education—one that provides a comprehensive foundation on which to
build a lifetime of fulfilling creative work, is in all but rare cases,
a necessity.
Even more invaluable is the combination of an outstanding art and design
education an excellent liberal arts education. Artists and designers who can think critically as well as creatively, who are well-read and informed, who have strong writing skills, who can clearly articulate their ideas, and who can collaborate with others—particularly those with backgrounds and
perspectives different from their own—will have distinct advantages over those without these abilities.
ADEA provides career development guidance for
recent graduates trying to begin their career and for
professionals seeking to modify their career.
A strong education supplemented with continuing career-long education
to expand one’s skills and knowledge base, the identification of career
goals and a plan to reach them, as well as the ability to recognize
and seize opportunities, may mean the difference between success and struggle for many artists and designers.
ADEA is happy to work with high schools to expand
the college services and career education they already offer
their art and design oriented students.
If you are interested in any of our services, I invite you to call or email
me to learn more about how we could help you. We are happy to work
with students worldwide.
